π Incentives up to $25,000 for builders and homebuyers to help offset costs of energy-efficient features in new construction homes.
ποΈ Non-profit organizations and registered charities can take advantage of the Non-Profit Pilot Program, which provides a rebate of $0.60 per watt (DC capacity). This rebate can cover up to 25% of eligible system costs, to a maximum of $15,000. To qualify, the solar system must be at least 1 kW in size and installed by an installer registered with Efficiency Nova Scotia.
π The EV Ready Plan Rebate provides up to $4,000 to support planning consultations for EV charger installations in both new and existing buildings. The EV Ready Charger Rebate covers up to $3,000 per charger and up to $15,000 per building to help with the cost of EV equipment and installation. The Standalone EV Charger Rebate offers up to $2,500 per charger, with a maximum of $10,000 available per building.
ποΈ The Halifax Solar City Program gives property owners an easy financing option for installing solar PV systemsβno upfront costs required. Instead, you'll enter into an agreement with the municipality, and a Local Improvement Charge (LIC) will be added to your property after installation. The cost can then be repaid over 10 years at a fixed interest rate of 4.75%.

π Community groups and organizations in Nova Scotia have the opportunity to own and operate a community solar garden, offering subscriptions to local homeowners and other organizations. The electricity generated is sent to Nova Scotia Power and shared among subscribers, who receive a credit of $0.02 per kWh on their power bills. To qualify, the solar garden must have a nameplate capacity between 0.5 MWac and 10 MWac.
π This program encourages businesses to install battery storage by offering incentives for lowering energy usage during peak demand times. Participants can earn $100 for every kilowatt reduced, with savings tracked and paid out at the end of each season.
ποΈ Nova Scotia municipalities, First Nations, registered non-profits, and post-secondary institutions can apply for the Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund to support the installation of energy generation systems. This fund backs projects that promote sustainability, align with the province's environmental goals, and benefit local communities. Successful applicants can receive funding for up to 80% of eligible project costs, with a maximum of $1,000,000. The required contribution from your organization will vary based on the total project cost.
